A medicinal chemist from Narayanganj, she is developing a therapy for nerve damage caused by chemotherapy.

Dr. Nabanita Nawar was born in Narayanganj and went to school at Aga Khan School in Dhaka before earning a PhD in medicinal chemistry at the University of Toronto.

In 2021 she co-founded HDAX Therapeutics, which is developing a treatment for peripheral nerve damage caused by chemotherapy. The company had raised more than $800,000 by 2023.

She was the only Bangladeshi on Forbes' first 30 Under 30 Local: Toronto list in 2023 and won a Rising Star award from the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research in 2022.
